Basketball Game Preview: Loomis Wolves vs. Overton Eagles

Loomis is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Friday. Having just played yesterday, they will head out on the road to face off against the Overton Eagles at 6:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Loomis is leaving town to face Overton after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. The Wolves were beaten by Sumner-Eddyville-Miller 69-42 on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Wolves in their meetings with the Mustangs: they've now lost six in a row.

Meanwhile, Overton had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell 49-40 to Arapahoe on Thursday.

Loomis will need to focus on slowing down Halynn Hughes, one of several Overton players who made an impact when they last played. She posted ten points and six rebounds. Daisy Ryan was another key player, putting up 11 points and seven boards.

Loomis was able to grind out a solid victory over Overton in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, winning 51-39. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
