Football Recap: Jayton Jones and Maddox Haake Secure Win for Meridian

Meridian won the last time they faced Lewiston and things went their way on Friday too. The Mustangs took down the Tigers 30-14. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

Meridian was led to victory by Maddox Haake and Jayton Jones. Haake gained 171 total yards and two touchdowns, while Jones rushed for 136 yards and one touchdown on only 15 carries. Those 136 rushing yards gave Jones a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Meridian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 227 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lewiston only rushed for 119 rushing yards.

Meridian now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Lewiston, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Meridian and Lewiston will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matches. The next time the Mustangs see the field they'll take on Red Cloud at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th. As for Lewiston, their break will end when they face Diller-Odell at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th.
