Basketball Game Preview: Cathedral City Lions vs. Desert Hot Springs Golden Eagles

The Cathedral City Lions will square off against the Desert Hot Springs Golden Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Desert Hot Springs took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Cathedral City, who comes in off a win.

Cathedral City is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Desert Mirage, posting a 58-5 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Meanwhile, Desert Hot Springs was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 37-32 to Banning. The Golden Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cathedral City has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 4-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.3 points per game. As for Desert Hot Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.

Cathedral City was dealt a bruising 58-11 loss at the hands of Desert Hot Springs when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Cathedral City avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
