Softball Game Preview: Jefferson Blue Jays vs. Festus Tigers

Jefferson hasn't had much luck against Festus recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Blue Jays will look to defend their home field against the Tigers at 4:30 p.m.

Jefferson lost 9-3 to Saxony Lutheran on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Festus came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.1 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Jaguars 7-1. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Ava Oberle spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks.

At the plate, Keeleigh Hankins was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Mia Metzger was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Festus kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Seckman only managed seven.

Festus' victory bumped their record up to 13-2. As for Jefferson, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.
