Basketball Game Preview: Orcutt Academy Spartans vs. Buchanan Bears + How To Watch

Having just played yesterday, the Orcutt Academy Spartans will jump right back in to play the Buchanan Bears at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Orcutt Academy is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest loss since January 10th on Friday. They were dealt an 89-41 defeat at the hands of Central East.

Orcutt Academy might have lost, but man, Elizabeth Johnson was a machine: she dropped a double-double with 22 points and 18 boards. Johnson has been hot for a while, having posted 16 or more points the last 28 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Vivienne Grizzle, who posted six points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, Buchanan made easy work of Immanuel on Friday and carried off a 62-37 win. The Bears have beaten the Eagles the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Eagles has come to flipping the script.

Orcutt Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Buchanan, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.

Orcutt Academy ended up a good deal behind Buchanan when the teams last played back in December of 2023, losing 75-57. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
