Soccer Game Preview: Chaparral vs. Murrieta Mesa

Chaparral is 1-9 against Murrieta Mesa since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Chaparral Pumas will look to defend their home pitch against the Murrieta Mesa Rams at 7:15 p.m. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Chaparral managed to keep up with Vista Murrieta until halftime on Wednesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Chaparral came up short against Vista Murrieta, falling 3-0. Having soared to a lofty six goals in the game before, the Pumas' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Murrieta Mesa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They lost 6-0 to Great Oak. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 825th, while the Wolfpack are ranked 52nd).

Chaparral's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Murrieta Mesa, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.
