Soccer Game Preview: Marin Academy vs. University

The Marin Academy Wildcats will challenge the University Red Devils at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Marin Academy is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last eight games.

On Thursday, Marin Academy beat Urban 3-1. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 45th, while the Blues are ranked 126th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, University made easy work of Convent of the Sacred Heart on Thursday and carried off a 6-2 victory. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 3-0.

University's offense was hitting Convent of the Sacred Heart from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Ofeibea Dah led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Marin Academy's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-1-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 16 goals over those five games. As for University, they now have a winning record of 7-6-2.

Marin Academy beat University 2-0 in their previous matchup on Friday. Will Marin Academy repeat their success, or does University have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
