Softball Recap: Lincoln High Find Success

Lincoln High picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the South Sioux City Cardinals 6-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Links.

Annie Semrad made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lincoln High let Alexis Lovette and Evie Becher run wild. Lovette went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double, while Becher went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run. That's the most hits Lovette has posted since back in September of 2024. Sheree Martin also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Lincoln High was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Lincoln High's win bumped their record up to 3-7. As for South Sioux City, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lincoln High will welcome Bryan at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Sioux City, they will take on Benson at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
