Preview: Julian vs. Holtville
The Julian Eagles will look to defend their home pitch on Friday against the Holtville Vikings at 3:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Julian has struggled recently with eight losses in a row, while Holtville will arrive with five straight victories.
Tuesday just wasn't the day for Julian's offense. They suffered a tough 6-0 loss at the hands of Borrego Springs on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Holtville had just enough and edged Palo Verde Valley out 2-1 on Tuesday. Kate Grizzle had to tread lightly for part of the match after she was hit with a yellow card, but that was the only trouble Holtville got from the refs.
Julian's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only scored zero goals over those five matchups. As for Holtville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-10-2 record this season.
