Basketball Recap: Pacifica Christian Comes Up Short

Pacifica Christian lost against Fairmont Prep back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Pacifica Christian Tritons took a blow against the Fairmont Prep Huskies, falling 68-34. While losing is never fun, the Tritons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while the Huskies are ranked 14th).

Several Tritons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Vivian Villagrana, who went 5 of 12 en route to 13 points. That was a full 38.2% of Pacifica Christian's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Caylie Villagrana was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to five boards and three steals.

It was another big night for Adyra Rajan, who went 8 for 18 on her way to 27 points and four steals for Fairmont Prep. The contest was Rajan's 12th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Maria Mejia, who scored 12 points and six rebounds.

Pacifica Christian is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-13. As for Fairmont Prep, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

When Pacifica Christian and Fairmont Prep next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Pacifica Christian will take on Oak Hills and their four-game winning streak at 9:30 a.m. on Monday. Similarly, Fairmont Prep will try to stop Brentwood School's four-game winning streak when the meet at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
