Basketball Recap: Waynesburg Central Comes Up Short

After flying high against Charleroi last Monday, Waynesburg Central came back down to earth. The Waynesburg Central Raiders came up short against the Fort Cherry Rangers on Monday, falling 51-31. The game marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Waynesburg Central still got an impressive performance from Peyton Cowell, who posted eight points and ten boards. Cowell has become a key player for Waynesburg Central: the team is 5-2 when she posts at least eight rebounds, but 3-4 otherwise. Allie Midla also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Even though they lost, Waynesburg Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive matchups.
