Baseball Recap: Mason County Eastern Takes a Loss

Mason County Eastern extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 7-11-1. They came up short against the White Cloud Indians, falling 11-0. If the Cardinals were looking for revenge after losing 14-10 to the Indians when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for White Cloud, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-14 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games.

For White Cloud's part, they got a great performance from Ayden Hensley as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave Hensley a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Brady Strait and Riley Borgman did most of the damage at the plate: Strait went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Borgman went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. White Cloud is 6-1 when Strait posts two or more runs, but 7-13 otherwise. Reece Hewitt was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

While Mason County Eastern had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
