Baseball Recap: Gainesville Continues Road Dominance on Friday

Gainesville barely beat Seckinger the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Gainesville put the hurt on Seckinger with a sharp 8-1 win on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for the Red Elephants, who have now won three matches in a row.

Daniel Rico spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February.

On the hitting side, Cohen Miller was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of CJ Saudarg, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Gainesville's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-12. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 9.4 hits in those games compared to only 5.31 in the others. As for Seckinger, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-8.

Looking ahead, Gainesville will be playing at home against Chattahoochee at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Gainesville is facing Chattahoochee at the right time seeing as Chattahoochee is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Seckinger, they will head out on the road to face off against Roswell at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Roswell will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
