Softball Preview: Interlachen Rams vs. Newberry Panthers

The Interlachen Rams will venture away from home to square off against the Newberry Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Interlachen is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.5 runs per game this season.

Interlachen will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run last Tuesday, then bounced right back against St. Augustine on Thursday. Brooklyn Davis made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Interlachen got a massive performance out of Ashlynn Poole, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits Poole has posted since back in March of 2024. Interlachen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Augustine only posted an OBP of .292.

Meanwhile, Newberry put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Bradford with a sharp 8-1 win. Considering the Panthers have won three games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Sarah Burns spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Newberry let Tristan Layfield and Gracie Mattson run wild. Layfield scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-4, while Mattson scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5.
