Softball Game Preview: Lincoln Lancers vs. Kennedy Commanders

Lincoln hasn't had much luck against Kennedy recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Lancers will welcome the Commanders at 4:00 p.m. Lincoln has given up an average of 20.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lincoln lost 20-7 to Middle Park on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Kennedy came into Saturday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over Alameda on Saturday.

Amerie Herrera made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in October of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

In other batting news, Kennedy got a massive performance out of Genesis Lujan, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Lujan has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Alexiah Lunas was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Kennedy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .655. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Lincoln's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Kennedy, their win bumped their record up to 5-10-1.
