Baseball Game Preview: Bartram Trail Bears vs. Parkview Panthers

The Bartram Trail Bears will challenge the Parkview Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Bartram Trail has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with three straight losses, while Parkview will come in with three straight wins.

Bartram Trail is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest defeat since March 13th on Tuesday. They fell just short of Bishop Snyder by a score of 3-1.

Moises Devine was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He is becoming a predictor of Bartram Trail's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-1 (and 7-13 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Bartram Trail saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Max Wilkerson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Parkview's hitters rose to the challenge against a Spartans pitching crew that boasted an average of only 3.79 runs allowed on Tuesday. The Panthers came out on top against St. Johns Country Day by a score of 11-6.

Parkview let Joseph Mendez and Michael Bonelli run wild. Mendez went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Bonelli scored three runs while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs Bonelli has posted over his last nine games. The team also got some help courtesy of Malachi Washington, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Parkview pushed their record up to 21-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Bartram Trail, their loss dropped their record down to 9-14.

Bartram Trail skirted past Parkview 2-0 when the teams last played back in April of 2022. Do the Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
