Softball Game Preview: Pleasant Valley Spartans vs. Linn-Mar Lions

The Pleasant Valley Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Linn-Mar Lions on Monday. Pleasant Valley will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

While Pleasant Valley's victory against Davenport West wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Spartans had just enough and edged out the Falcons 5-4 on Saturday. Surprisingly, this marked the Spartans' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Meanwhile, Linn-Mar had already won four in a row and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They blew past the Little Hawks 8-2. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won 13 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Pleasant Valley's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 29-9. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Linn-Mar, their win bumped their record up to 33-6-1.

Pleasant Valley couldn't quite get it done against Linn-Mar when the teams last played back in June as they fell 3-0. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
