Baseball Recap: Pinole Valley Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Pinole Valley extended their winning streak to five on Friday, bumping them up to 13-11. They blew past the El Cerrito Gauchos 8-1. Considering the Spartans have won eight games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Charles Vargas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up seven Ks. He has become a key player for Pinole Valley: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-11 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Pinole Valley got a big performance out of Juan Vargas, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Mauricio Mendoza was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

As for El Cerrito, their loss dropped their record down to 15-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat they have suffered since February 27, 2025.

On El Cerrito's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Dalton-Recht, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

As of now, neither Pinole Valley nor the Gauchos have any future games scheduled.
