Basketball Recap: Antioch Comes Up Short

Antioch has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They lost 63-38 to the Deer Valley Wolverines on Thursday. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolverines apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2025.

Edeel Hersi was her usual excellent self, putting up 32 points in addition to six boards and three steals for Deer Valley. That makes it four consecutive games in which Hersi has scored at least a third of the Wolverines' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lalotoga Asoaufua, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 11 rebounds.

Antioch's loss dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Deer Valley, they moved to 5-6 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Looking ahead, Antioch will take on McNair at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Deer Valley, they will welcome Freedom at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
