Soccer Game Preview: Monte Vista vs. Otay Ranch

The Monte Vista Monarchs will face off against the Otay Ranch Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Monte Vista will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more goals each contest than the last.

Monte Vista's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed two weeks ago. They blew past Sweetwater 3-0.

Monte Vista hit Sweetwater with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Nyla Jack, Melissa Velazquez Varela, and Marely Velazquez.

Meanwhile, Otay Ranch hasn't lost a match yet, a trend which continued in their latest game last Monday. They came out on top against Hilltop by a score of 2-0. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 106th, while the Lancers are ranked 512th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Otay Ranch pushed their record up to 5-0-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 11 goals over those three games. As for Monte Vista, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3-1.
