Softball Recap: Burke Bulldogs vs. Omaha North Vikings
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Elkhorn South, Burke was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Omaha North Vikings. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won seven in a row.
Bre Bender made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Bender was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those runs were her first of the season.
In other batting news, Burke let Cece Hultman and Kassidy Nilius run wild. Hultman got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run, while Nilius went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. That run marked the first that Hultman has scored this season.
