Baseball Game Preview: Leyden Eagles vs. Hinsdale Central Red Devils

Leyden hasn't had much luck against Hinsdale Central recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Red Devils at 10:00 a.m.

On Thursday, Leyden came up short against Berwyn/Cicero Morton and fell 4-1.

Leyden got a good showing from Christopher Matz, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Furthermore, Matz didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March.

At the plate, Leyden saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Julian Martinez, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Hinsdale Central had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Trojans. That's two games straight that the Red Devils have won by just one run.

Leyden's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Hinsdale Central, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
