Baseball Recap: David Emanuel Academy Extends Home Winning Streak to Eight

With a playoff win on the line, David Emanuel Academy rose to the challenge on Thursday. They blew past the Westwood Wildcats 14-4. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by six runs or more this season.

Brody Fleming made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Fleming was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.

In other batting news, David Emanuel Academy let Richard Braddy and Cooper Riner run wild. Braddy went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Riner went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits Riner has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Clayton Hood, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

David Emanuel Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westwood only posted an OBP of .360.

David Emanuel Academy's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Westwood, their loss dropped their record down to 14-10.

David Emanuel Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair will be back at it again later today.
