McLoud waltzed into their game on Thursday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They never let the Holdenville Wolverines get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory. The Redskins' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Miley Hicklin made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Hicklin was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Avery Soward was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Taycee Lewis, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and two runs.
McLoud kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive contests.
McLoud's win bumped their record up to 10-2-1. As for Holdenville, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McLoud will square off against North Rock Creek at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Holdenville, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Morris at 4:30 p.m. on September 9.
