Basketball Game Preview: Dublin Gaels vs. Liberty Lions

Dublin is 4-0 against Liberty since December of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Dublin Gaels will be playing at home against the Liberty Lions at 3:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Dublin has three straight wins, Liberty has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Dublin is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Granada: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Dublin blew Granada out of the water with a 69-42 final score. The Gaels have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 22 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Liberty lost 72-51 to Freedom on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 617th, while the Falcons are ranked 165th).

Dublin's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-4. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 24.8 points. As for Liberty, their loss dropped their record down to 7-15.

Dublin was able to grind out a solid win over Liberty in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 44-33. Will Dublin repeat their success, or does Liberty have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
