Baseball Game Preview: Central Crossing Comets vs. Franklin Heights Falcons

The Central Crossing Comets will face off against the Franklin Heights Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Central Crossing is headed into the matchup having just suffered their closest defeat since March 28th on Tuesday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (7-5), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.

Meanwhile, Franklin Heights can bid farewell to their nine-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Northland 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Falcons have posted since April 9, 2025.

Colin Rush made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2025. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Franklin Heights is 4-1 when Rush posts two or more runs, but 2-16 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Matt Johnson, who earned one RBI, one run, and six stolen bases. He has become a key player for Franklin Heights: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-16 otherwise. Andrew Mcbride also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Franklin Heights' victory bumped their record up to 6-17. As for Central Crossing, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-22 record this season.

Central Crossing got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 against Franklin Heights by a conclusive 9-1 score. Do the Comets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
