Basketball Recap: Desert Ridge Comes Up Short

Desert Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a blow against the Higley Knights, falling 83-27. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 147th, while the Knights are ranked 46th).

Higley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cadence Murdough, who went 8 for 11 on her way to 17 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. The dominant performance gave Murdough a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Greenwade, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 assists.

Desert Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Higley, they pushed their record up to 11-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Desert Ridge will host Highland at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Higley, they will head out on the road to square off against ALA - Queen Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Higley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.4 points per game this season.
