Baseball Recap: Marquette Comes Up Short

Marquette extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping them down to 4-9. They came up short against the Kingsford Fliwers, falling 13-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Sentinels have suffered since April 17th.

Marquette saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Wes Robinson, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Kingsford, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-7. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games.

On Kingsford's side, Jack Spreen was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Jonah Doenier was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Marquette didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 11-1 defeat against Escanaba on the 13th. Kingsford has also already played their next matchup (against North Dickinson), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
