Softball Recap: Apalachee Comes Up Short

If Apalachee was riding high fresh off their 9-1 takedown of Peachtree Ridge on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats fell just short of the Jackson County Panthers by a score of 4-3 on Thursday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Dezyiah Wells was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Askew, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Apalachee's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Jackson County, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Apalachee will head out to face off against Prince Avenue Christian at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolverines' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Jackson County, they will face off against Winder-Barrow at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
