Basketball Game Preview: Santa Fe Christian Eagles vs. Torrey Pines Falcons

Santa Fe Christian is 0-3 against Torrey Pines since February of 2015 but things could change on Saturday. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Santa Fe Christian Eagles duke it out with the Torrey Pines Falcons at 6:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Santa Fe Christian comes in on three and Torrey Pines on five.

Santa Fe Christian will bounce into Saturday's contest after beating Pacific Ridge, who they had gone 0-4 against in their four prior meetings. Santa Fe Christian simply couldn't be stopped on Wednesday as they easily beat Pacific Ridge 63-22. The Eagles pushed the score to 55-19 by the end of the third, a deficit the Firebirds had no chance of recovering from.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Torrey Pines over Sage Creek in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Torrey Pines blew Sage Creek out of the water with a 65-31 final score. The Falcons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Torrey Pines has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 28.8 points. As for Santa Fe Christian, their win bumped their record up to 8-11.

Santa Fe Christian couldn't quite finish off Torrey Pines when the teams last played back in November of 2018 and fell 42-39. Can Santa Fe Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
