Baseball Recap: Harvard Hornets vs. Zion-Benton Zee-Bees

Harvard extended their losing streak to six on Friday, dropping them down to 4-16. They came up short against the Zion-Benton Zee-Bees, falling 16-3. The Hornets were not able to make up for their defeat to the Zee-Bees from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.

That's the most strikeouts Gonzalez has posted since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with four RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sam Villarreal, who went 2-for-5 with six RBI and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Ross Ames, who earned four runs and two stolen bases.

Harvard and Zion-Benton could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Hornets (ranked 550th) will meet Richmond-Burton (ranked 270th) at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Zion-Benton will challenge Stevenson at 4:45 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (414 vs. 101).
