The Cumberland Pirates will challenge the Edwards County Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Cumberland will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Maddox Miller made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Cumberland is 4-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 5-11 otherwise. Miller was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grady Jones, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Reed Miller was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Cumberland hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Edwards County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Woodlawn 11-10.
Like Cumberland, Edwards County also got a great game from a two-way player: Drew Roosevelt. He tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Roosevelt was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Jax Duncan was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Cash Conner, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Cumberland's victory bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Edwards County, their win bumped their record up to 19-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Cumberland has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Edwards County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
