Baseball Recap: Lincoln-Way Central's Luck Changes for the Better on Wednesday

Lincoln-Way Central came into Wednesday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Bradley-Bourbonnais Boilermakers on Wednesday. This was a revenge game for the Knights: when they faced off against the Boilermakers on Monday, they had to take a 4-1 defeat.

Lincoln-Way Central got a great performance from Owen Novak as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 15 over six innings pitched. Novak also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Knights are undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-17 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Conor McCabe, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple. Lincoln-Way Central is 7-2 when McCabe posts two or more runs, but 8-15 otherwise. Daniel Houston was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Lincoln-Way Central's win bumped their record up to 15-17. As for Bradley-Bourbonnais, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-19 record.

Coming up, Lincoln-Way Central will be taking part in a tournament against Brother Rice at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Crusaders have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season. Bradley-Bourbonnais does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
