Football Recap: Park Rapids Panthers vs. Crookston Pirates
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Fergus Falls, Park Rapids was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They breezed by the Crookston Pirates at home to the tune of 43-6. The high-scoring effort was just what the Panthers needed considering they were shutout in their previous contest.
Jaydon Walen was a one-man wrecking crew for Park Rapids as he rushed for 184 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries. The dominant performance gave him a new career- in rushing yards. Another player making a difference was Carter Hirt, who threw for 192 yards and three touchdowns on only ten passes.
The win got Park Rapids back to even at 1-1. As for Crookston, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.
Park Rapids will take on Staples-Motley at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Crookston, they will look to take advantage of their home-field for the first time this season as they take on Frazee at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
