It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but University ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past the Eaton Reds 8-7. The victory was nothing new for the Bulldogs as they're now sitting on nine straight.

Sydney Goetzel made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Natalie Galindo and Emma Zacheis did most of the damage at the plate: Galindo went 3-for-4 with one run and one double, while Zacheis went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. That's the most hits Galindo has posted since back in October of 2024. Bergen Duarte was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

University's record now sits at 19-2. As for Eaton, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 16-4.

University wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 11-1 win against Resurrection Christian on the 7th. As for Eaton, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 17-0 victory against Platte Valley on the 4th.
