Baseball Game Preview: Glascock County Panthers vs. Johnson County Trojans

For the second straight game, Glascock County will face off against Johnson County. Glascock County will face off against Johnson County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Glascock County is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

On Tuesday, Glascock County came up short against Johnson County and fell 6-3.

For Johnson County's part, S. Stapleton made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Stapleton a new career-low in walks (zero). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Johnson County got a great performance from S. Newsome as he struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Newsome has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on O. Wilcher, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. N. Tuberville was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases.

Johnson County has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. Glascock County now has a losing record of 7-8.
