Soccer Game Preview: Greenbrier vs. Lakeside

The Greenbrier Wolfpack will challenge the Lakeside Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Greenbrier gave up the first goal last Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was the Wolfpack who were credited with the win. Greenbrier got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to Evans' three. Greenbrier found success even though the refs didn't miss a thing: Lucas Johnson and Nathan Rogers were both handed yellow cards.

Angelo Robinson and Teddy Donosky scored both of Greenbrier's goals, bringing their combined season tally to four goals.

Lakeside is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They put the hurt on Glynn Academy with a sharp 4-1 victory on Tuesday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for Lakeside considering their one-goal performance the game before.

Greenbrier's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-4. The road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored ten goals over those three matchups. As for Lakeside, their record now sits at 7-8.

Greenbrier took their win against Lakeside in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolfpack since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
