Patrick Henry headed into their last game having not scored more than two runs for four straight, but Henrico let them put that streak behind them. The Patriots put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 22-2 win on Monday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Patriots as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Meanwhile, Maggie Walker got the win against Henrico on Thursday by a conclusive 14-4.
Carson Holbert was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Maggie Walker: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-8 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lewis Dunn, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Maggie Walker is undefeated when Dunn posts two or more runs, but 7-8 otherwise. Charlie Fetter was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.
