Baseball Game Preview: Seckinger Jaguars vs. Johns Creek Gladiators

The Seckinger Jaguars will head out on the road to challenge the Johns Creek Gladiators at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Seckinger is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.

Seckinger took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Johns Creek as Seckinger made off with an 11-5 victory. Considering the Jaguars have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Seckinger got a great performance from Shia Carnish as he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

On the hitting side, Alex Newnam was a standout: he scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Sam Melanson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.

Seckinger has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. With the defeat, Johns Creek broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-4.
