Preview: Surry Central Golden Eagles vs. East Surry Cardinals
Surry Central is 2-8 against East Surry since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Surry Central Golden Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the East Surry Cardinals at 8:00 p.m. Hopefully Surry Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday.
Surry Central unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak. They took a hard 65-50 fall against North Surry. Surry Central has not had much luck with North Surry recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
The losing side was boosted by Ayden Wilmoth, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Evan Wall was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, East Surry scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They claimed a resounding 91-58 win over West Wilkes at home. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Surry Central's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-4. As for East Surry, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-10.
Surry Central strolled past East Surry in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a score of 67-50. Does Surry Central have another victory up their sleeve, or will East Surry turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
