Softball Recap: Lyons' Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Lyons had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Valley Vikings a 12-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-0 last Tuesday.

Lyons let Luci Santesteban and Dahlia Oviatt run wild. Santesteban went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI, while Oviatt went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Santesteban has posted since back in October of 2024. Leora Hagan was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Lyons kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive games.

Lyons' victory bumped their record up to 17-5. As for Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.

As of now, neither Lyons nor Valley have any future games scheduled.
