Recap: Buena Bulldogs vs. Clovis Cougars
After losing to the Clovis Cougars the last time they met, the Buena Bulldogs decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Buena narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Clovis 56-54.
Buena found their leader in underclassman Karisma Lewis, who scored 21 points. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Lewis has scored at least 25% of Buena's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Skye Thomas, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.
Buena's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Clovis, they have fallen quite a ways from their 27-7 record last season and are now at 3-5.
Buena won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Westlake at 4:30 p.m. on December 9th. Westlake presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Buena in California (Westlake is ranked 119th, while Buena is ranked 247th). Clovis won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Ventura at 12:00 p.m. on December 9th. Hopefully Ventura focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday.
