Baseball Recap: Calvary Christian Has No Trouble Against Shaw

Calvary Christian had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Shaw on Saturday. Calvary Christian blew past Shaw 7-1. The Knights have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Raiders, too.

Bradie Reed looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tommy Irving, who scored a run and stole two bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryson Brooks, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Calvary Christian has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. Shaw's loss dropped their record down to 13-11.

Coming up, Calvary Christian will face off against Lincoln-Way West at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Lincoln-Way West's pitching crew has only allowed 0.5 runs per game this season, so Calvary Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Shaw, they are taking a road trip to face off against Northside at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
