Basketball Recap: Kearny Takes a Loss

Kearny lost against Coronado back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Kearny Komets took a hard 44-27 fall against the Coronado Islanders.

Coronado was led to victory by Gabby Fichter and Selena Herrera. Fichter posted 20 points, while Herrera scored 18 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Herrera has scored at least a third of Coronado's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Albin, who put up a point in addition to five rebounds, four blocks, and three steals.

Kearny has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-12 record this season. As for Coronado, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kearny has already played their next match (against Canyon Hills), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Coronado will venture away from home to challenge Mission Bay at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
