Softball Recap: Lanier Takes a Loss

Lanier was the 6-5 winner over Flowery Branch when they last played one another back in August of 2016, but their luck changed this time around. The Longhorns fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 5-4 on Monday. The Longhorns have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lanier saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sanai Hampton, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Lanier's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Flowery Branch, their victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-1.

Looking ahead, Lanier will challenge South Forsyth at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Flowery Branch, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Johns Creek at 6:00 p.m. The Gladiators have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.6 runs per game on average), something the Falcons will no doubt try to take advantage of.
