Fredericktown and St. Pius X are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2016, but likely not for long. The Black Cats will welcome the Lancers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Fredericktown is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Fredericktown gave up the first runs last Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against North County as they made off with a 14-4 victory. Considering the Black Cats have won four contests by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Ella Penwell was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Becca Mangold, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Fredericktown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .344 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Lutheran South hit St. Pius X with a five-run second inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. St. Pius X lost 10-2 to Lutheran South.
St. Pius X saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abigail Rohe, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Fredericktown's win bumped their record up to 8-0. As for St. Pius X, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10.
St. Pius X's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Fredericktown hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .428. It's a different story for St. Pius X, though, as they've only averaged .253. Will they be able to contain Fredericktown's hitters?
Everything went Fredericktown's way against St. Pius X in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as Fredericktown made off with a 13-3 victory. Do the Black Cats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lancers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
