Baseball Recap: Hesston Comes Up Short

Hesston was the 3-1 winner over Haven when they last played one another on Friday, but their luck changed this time around. The Swathers took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats on Friday.

Gabe Mowry put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed over his last three contests. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Levi Flaming was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Tim Rhodes, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Hesston has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-11 record this season. As for Haven, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 14-11 record.

Hesston wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 15-3 loss against Collegiate on the 13th. As for Haven, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 win against Clearwater on the 11th.
