Basketball Recap: Athena Correa Key Part of a Team Effort in Broncos Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Coalinga, Dos Palos was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They took down the Avenal Buccaneers 35-20. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 45-21 on January 10th.

Dos Palos got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Athena Correa out in front who posted 21 points. Those 21 points gave Correa a new career-high. Jayla Bland was another key player, putting up ten points.

Dos Palos' victory bumped their record up to 7-11. As for Avenal, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

Dos Palos and Avenal could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Dos Palos will take on Mendota at 6:30 p.m. on Friday down 695 places (1011 vs. 316). Similarly, Avenal (ranked 1146th) will meet Coalinga (ranked 306th) at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
