Basketball Recap: Winters Comes Up Short

Winters had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 6-5 to make it four. They took a 44-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Durham Trojans. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 731st, while the Trojans are ranked 316th).

When it comes to explaining why Winters lost, don't look at Maci Dodic. Despite the final result, she posted 15 points. Reece Barbosa was another key player, putting up seven points.

As for Durham, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points over those games.

Durham's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ava Bunch, who had 16 points. Another player making a difference was Karla Rangel, who put up ten points.

Winters wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 31-21 victory against Willows on the 16th. As for Durham, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 63-23 win against Paradise on the 16th.
