Soccer Game Preview: Rootstown vs. Smithville

Rootstown is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Smithville is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Rovers will host the Smithies at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Rootstown is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 5.1 goals per game this season.

Rootstown's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Garfield 12-0. Zach Pastor was a massive factor in the win as he booted in three goals all by himself.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Smithville's offense. They fell just short of Norwayne by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday.

Smithville's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1-2 and their overall record down to 7-2-4. As for Rootstown, their win bumped their record up to 10-3-1.

Rootstown skirted past Smithville 1-0 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Do the Rovers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Smithies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
